ANNO ONLINE CONTENT UPDATE INTRODUCES NEW “VISIT YOUR FRIEND’S ISLAND” SOCIAL FEATURE
Content Update Also Introduces Optimized Tutorial Quests for New Players as Well As Other Ease-of-Use Features
SAN FRANCISCO – September 12, 2013 –Ubisoft® and Blue Byte® announced today that ANNO® Online, the popular free-to-play browser-based strategy game, will undergo a significant content update that will introduce several news features aimed at bringing players together more often and more easily.
Developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte, ANNO Online is a free-to-play, browser-based world-building strategy game that challenges players to build and manage a medieval kingdom and trading empire. ANNO Online is currently in Open Beta and is available to anyone that signs up or logs in with their existing Uplay account via the game’s official web site www.anno-online.com.
Included in this update is a new social feature called “Visit Your Friend’s Island” as well a variety of improvements like optimized tutorial quests for new players, a user-friendly game interface to identify ascension rights of the residents, and a responsive new feature to place buildings.
- “Visit Your Friend’s Island”: The new friend feature will enable players to examine the play style of their friends to learn how they’ve cultivated their islands, what special buildings they’ve earned, and more. Players will be able to visit their friends’ main island as well as all additional colonized islands to see the entire production chain. This introduces another layer of player interaction: by buffing the production buildings of their friends, in return, player will received a longer buff duration for their own production buildings.
- Ascension Rights Interface: Achieving new citizen levels is one of the key features of ANNO Online. The new user interface provides an easy-to-use overview of achieved and required ascension rights to carry the player’s population to a new level.
- Building Placement Feedback: This feature provides a quick glance look at the building grounds and the possibilities for constructing buildings in regards to available space and resources.

Based on the critically acclaimed ANNO 1404®, ANNO Online delivers the franchise’s proven and popular strategy-simulation gameplay along with the series’ highly-detailed animation and graphics, for the first time in a browser-based title. Players will build and develop great medieval cities using the detailed economic system enjoyed for years by ANNO fans. As they satisfy the population’s needs, they will unlock new buildings and face more demanding inhabitants, eventually needing to discover and claim additional islands and connect them with trading routes.
In ANNO Online, players start on a deserted island with only two buildings (a harbour and a warehouse) and make the best of their resources to build, manage and expand their territory in order to develop a commercial empire. Trade by ships remains an essential component of the game, and will offer multiplayer possibilities that will further enhance the deep economic system of ANNO Online.
