We’re not going to lie — some of our favorite games are purely multiplayer shooters.
Going back all the way to Quake 3 Arena (which Matt helped ship) through onto Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004 (which Matt shipped) and even more modern day games like Left 4 Dead (which Matt wished he shipped).
There’s something about pure FPS competition and keeping it simple and balanced — those games became about skill, speed and strategy. You had to know the map, you had to know how to play and you had to know how to move.
I mean, we’re big fans. We still have screengrabs of victories from those games stored on our hard drives. Ya… sad.
So along comes ShootMania Storm, and suddenly we’re reminded of the good old days. Fast, twitch gameplay where players are better than another because of their learned ability, not some ridiculous level grinding system and remote control cars. Where the controls welcome in the n00bs who feel as comfortable as the pros jumping into matches.
But, we blather. The bottom line here is the Ubisoft and Nadeo have released ShootMania Storm and we’re going to lose a heck of a lot of time to it. And as always, if you can find PR_Flak or Groksmith online, than by all means frag away and make fun of them.
Just don’t be too mean — remember, we’re old.
